The Santa Workshop Experience at ICON Park will be different for Christmas 2024. St. Nick might look and act a little different this season.
Over the years, The Santa Workshop Experience, located at ICON Park, has traditionally employed two Santas who split the workday. One would cover the morning shift, while the other handled the afternoon, allowing hundreds of families to take pictures with their favorite Santa Claus and take home a keepsake of their children growing up with the same Santa year after year.

However, this year, there will be only one Santa covering both shifts, as announced by the company on their social media platforms.
Disappointment has spread on social media, as for many children and their parents, seeing the same Santa every year is what makes the experience magical. Having photos with the same person has become a family tradition that may not continue this year.
Parents’ frustration has been evident, especially among those who have upheld this tradition for years. “We’ve visited this Santa for the past few years. Is he not going to be there anymore?” asked Brittany Elizabeth on the company’s Facebook page.
This change is significant, as ICON Park’s website still displays images of the Santa who won’t be present in the 2024 season, leading to more confusion among visitors expecting to meet the same Santa from previous years.

Questions raised
Another concern is how a single Santa will manage a shift of up to 10 hours, 7 days a week, throughout the entire holiday season. Many have questioned this online. “How can one person work open-to-close shifts every day for six weeks?” asked Kerry Sharkey on social media. “Especially at his age,” added Marianne Ruark.

This unexpected change isn’t the first in the history of The Santa Workshop Experience. In the past, the company had to adjust when one of its Santas took a break to spend more time with his family. At that time, they opted to find a replacement who physically resembled his predecessor.
Moreover, The Santa Workshop Experience adapted during the COVID-19 pandemic by cleverly using plexiglass to create the illusion of closeness with Santa while maintaining safety. This commitment to the Christmas tradition highlights how important this event is for families and the local economy.
This time, however, the company has not provided a clear explanation for the change. The uncertainty has left many wondering: Where is Santa? Has he returned to the North Pole? What is certain is that for many families, the experience won’t be the same without the Santa who has been a fundamental part of their holiday celebrations.
